I occasionally bother myself with the status of my family's lives and was reminded recently of words written on my grandfather's tombstone:
"Judge not, compare not, delete the need to understand." Remembering this quote helps, when I find that I don't put myself first. ![]()

"...delete the need to understand." Wow, that is something to ponder....

Letting past situations bother our present, that we don't have the exact answer to (whether it be a problem with family or friends) - is it a waste of time? Is that what "delete the need to understand" means? I figure it does. At least, it does for me.
I had a recent talk with my aunt - who reminded me of the quote, after revealing my anxiety of living with my parents and brothers. I cannot figure out why my parents' have a lack of sensitivity to my disease. I can only figure out myself. Therefore, I better move out quick.

Given the way this is worded, I take it to mean when one views an unacceptable/questionable behavior don't criticize it (judge not), accept the same as that of one person only being responsible for their actions/behaviors (compare not) and remove the urge to analyze why (i.e., delete the need to understand).
